Christmas is over, what do I do with the cards?
You have three options really, the last one is my favourite!
Recycle
If you are not a card person this should be easy for you to make a decision. If this is not an easy decision why is that? Is that because the cards bring you joy or because you feel it is a waste?
Reuse
If you feel it is a waste then why not consider making your own cards next year? Or even use them for tags? Before you put them all into Christmas craft storage make sure you cut them and only keep the front! This will really help your storage capacity. If you are finding that you have still got last years card to “reuse” then I suggest it’s time for them to be recycled! If you didn’t use them this year the chances are you won’t use them next year! Personally I am not very good at sending cards (or am I very crafty) so this definitely would not be wise for me!
Keep
I LOVE a good card, one with a message that reflects my relationship with the person or the events of the last year. That’s why I tend to separate my cards into two piles, one for recycling and one for storage! The reason I am keeping them is not because of it being ‘Christmas 2023’, the reason is because of my relationship with that person. Therefore I store my cards in categories of people rather than events. This helps me to keep my card collection from getting too big as I can see if that person has sent me similar cards before for example. I store it in a really useful box like below. If I have organised your paperwork you will recognise this box as it is in a very similar set up as how I organise my paperwork.
